English Language Skills Training for Teachers, Booni Chitral, Pakistan

Project Overview

The English Language Skills Training for Teachers is a collaborative initiative between The Foundation to Empower Students (FES), Pakistan, The Worldwide Education Fund (WEF) of The Dallas Foundation and Bridge Education Group. This program aims to enhance the teaching skills of eight teachers from the remote valley of Booni in Chitral, Northern Pakistan, by providing them with a sponsored online Micro Credential TEFL certification course.

The three-month, self-paced course, generously offered by Bridge, is tutor-guided and designed to develop effective English language teaching strategies. FES supports the participants by providing the necessary platform and technological resources to access the course. FES organizes weekly reflection-sharing sessions where teachers discuss their insights and engage in collaborative discussions about the course modules to ensure a thorough understanding and practical application of the course material.

Upon course completion, participants will undertake a practicum and submit a comprehensive assignment demonstrating their learning. FES facilitates these practicum opportunities at their In-School Language Labs, allowing teachers to apply their new skills in a real-world setting, ultimately improving English language education in their community.

This initiative not only strengthens the professional capacity of local teachers but also enriches the overall educational experience for students in Booni, Chitral.

Current Impact

In the first round of training, eight teachers successfully received their certifications. We are currently training an additional 13 teachers, bringing the total number of trained teachers to 21. These educators are now equipped to teach high-quality English language skills and effective classroom management techniques.
