Foundation to Empower Students

In School Language Labs

Project Overview

The In-School Language Labs in Booni, Chitral, Pakistan, is an impactful project implemented by the Foundation to Empower Students (FES) in collaboration with The Worldwide Education Fund (WEF). This initiative is dedicated to delivering high-quality English language education to students in low-income private schools in Chitral, ensuring greater access to learning opportunities and skill development.

The selected schools are central hubs for establishing English Language Labs and Career Counseling and Coaching Resource Centers. WEF and FES provide the necessary technology and access to internet-based educational content through licensed agreements with platforms like FluentU, Lingua Phone, and other proprietary sources. FES also recruits and trains qualified English Language Facilitators who lead instruction and provide career counseling within these labs. Additionally, these facilitators train the existing English teachers, empowering them to take on leadership roles within the lab environment.

The primary goal of these language labs is to enhance the listening and speaking skills of primary and secondary school students. By fostering an interactive learning environment, the labs encourage students to exchange ideas and questions, gaining insights into the perspectives and actions of their peers globally. Furthermore, these labs serve as valuable resources for local teachers, helping them cover essential aspects of language learning that may not be fully addressed within regular classroom time due to limited access to relevant educational materials.

Through this project, WEF and FES aim to empower students with essential language skills and broaden their horizons, paving the way for brighter educational and career opportunities.
