Integration of  Early Childhood Development and Technology-Assisted Language Labs in Booni, Chitral

Project Overview

The Foundation to Empower Students (FES), Pakistan in collaboration with The Worldwide Education Fund (WEF) of The Dallas Foundation, USA and the Elementary and Secondary Education Department of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, is leading a transformative educational initiative in Booni, Chitral. The “Learning Centers for Capacity Building of Government Primary Schools” project aims to address critical educational gaps in the region by providing innovative learning environments for young students.

These Learning Centers are designed to enhance the educational experience in government primary schools by creating dynamic, technology-equipped spaces that cater to both Early Childhood Development (ECD) and English language proficiency. Each center is furnished with modern technology, comfortable furniture, and engaging ECD materials, creating a stimulating environment that supports the holistic development of children. In the mornings, the centers function as ECD hubs, focusing on foundational learning skills for young children. In the afternoons, they transition into English Language Labs, providing specialized language instruction for students in grades 1 to 5.

A key component of this project is the empowerment of teachers. The initiative includes training for local educators, equipping them with specialized skills in ECD and language instruction. This training, conducted in collaboration with the Aga Khan University Professional Development Center in Chitral, ensures that teachers are well-prepared to deliver high-quality education and take on leadership roles within their schools.

The Learning Centers aim to impact approximately 400 students by providing them with essential skills and knowledge necessary for their academic and personal growth. By investing in student learning and teacher development, the project seeks to enhance the overall quality of education in the region. Following a successful pilot phase, there are plans to expand the program to additional government primary schools in Booni, Chitral, and beyond, further scaling its positive impact.

Through this initiative, FES is committed to revolutionizing education in Booni, Chitral, and empowering the younger generation with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the modern world. By focusing on Early Childhood Development and English language education, FES envisions a future where every child in the region has access to quality education and the opportunity to thrive.
